A Magic prerelease is a casual, beginner-friendly event hosted at local game stores that gives players their first chance to play with a new set before its official release. At the event, you receive a Prerelease Pack with boosters from the new set, build a 40-card deck from those cards and basic lands, and then play games against other attendees in a relaxed tournament setting.
